Proposition 65 Statement

Christopher Elbow Chocolates is required to display the warning above under California’s Proposition 65 (the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986). Cadmium and lead are naturally occurring trace heavy metals present in the soil in which cacao is grown — they are not ingredients we add to our chocolate, and their presence in cacao-derived products is common across the chocolate industry.
To help manage and monitor these naturally occurring trace elements, we maintain a Supplier Approval Program. Under this program, our approved raw-material suppliers are required to monitor for contaminants and certify their compliance with the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986.
